ITEC S.A.S has created IT-NHRain with the purpose of evaluating the hazard due to non-hurricane rain. It is based on ERN-NHRain developed by ERN-AL. The new version allows generating PADF curves from historical records of precipitation depth in the stations of a basin. From these curves, it is possible to create a set of stochastic storms, which all together represent the rain hazard in the area. This new tool fully integrates all the previous applications and its result serves as an input for the evaluation of secondary hazards such as flood or landslide.

IT- NHRain V.3.0 module (Size:11MB)

  • These new version allows generating PADF curves from historical records of precipitation depth in the stations of a basin.
  • From PADF curves, it is possible to create a set of stochastic storms, which all together represent the rain hazard in the area.
  • Fully integrates all the previous applications and its result serves as an input for the evaluation of secondary hazards such as flood or landslide.

The following are the minimum hardware requirements:

  • 512 Mb Extended Memory (RAM).
  • Free hard drive capacity of 250 Mb or Higher.
  • Operating systems: Microsoft XP or Higher.
  • PC or compatible computer with Pentium III processor (or higher) and processor speed over 1.5 GHz.

Software limitations:

  • Currently limited version only generates 20 stochastic storms.
  • The proposed model works well in small or medium size basins. In the case of bigger basins, it is possible that the elliptical pattern with one storm center does not represent adequately the spatial distribution of rains.
  • The input precipitation data can only be in Microsoft Excel 2003 version. The software is not compatible with newer versions.
