About CAPRA

Central American Probabilistic Risk Assessment (CAPRA)

The CAPRA initiative seeks to enhance disaster risk understanding in the Central American region. CAPRA builds upon the work of disaster risk experts to provide a GIS information platform on risk generated by adverse natural events. In essence, it is a disaster risk analysis and communication tool that enables decision-makers to manage risk at local, national and regional levels.

Building a CAPRA community: the CAPRA Wiki

A wiki is an on-line workspace that enables the user to share, modify and enhance information in an open and participatory manner. Login to the CAPRA wiki to access the CAPRA reports on hazard, exposure, vulnerability and risk. Users can debate and pose questions about the CAPRA methodology in the on-line discussion forum and view examples of risk simulations in Costa Rica and Nicaragua in the map viewer.
